News: Arcanis: the Roleplaying Game Fastplay Rules for Free RPG Day 2011

Paradigm Concepts, Inc president Henry Lopez has announced that they would be handing out fastplay rules of their upcoming Arcanis: the Roleplaying Game to participating retailers for this year's Free RPG Day (June 18 2011).

The 2005 ENnie Award winner for Fans' Choice Best Publisher is also welcoming reviewers to take a first glance of the final game at their 'Reviewers Table' at Origins where they would be able to run through the system in a demo during the convention on June 22-27.

Arcanis: the Roleplaying Game is an updated system of the World of the Shattered Empires RPG, set in the 2008 Origins Award winning setting of Arcanis, and is expected to ship in late June after Origins.

The new game would introduce a new skill and combat system (here's a combat example) as well as a magic system that gives the power of creation to characters at the peril of their mortal forms.

Pre-orders of the game can be placed at the Paradigm Concepts online store.

News: Dungeon Crawl Classics RPG Adventure Starter and Beta Rules on Free RPG Day 2011

Goodman Games has announced that they will be releasing the first published adventure module for their upcoming Dungeon Crawl Classics (DCC) Roleplaying Game to retailers participating in this year's Free RPG Day.

The release of the Adventure Starter would also coincide with the online release of the DCC RPG beta rules, which will give players a chance to have a run with the mechanics and rules on June 18 2011.

The Adventure Starter will contain two adventures for low level and high level play so that players can have a feel of the DCC RPG.

Goodman Games had announced the DCC RPG in January; an OGL game that 'cross-breeds Appendix N with a streamlined version of 3E’ to create a modern system that is grounded in the origins of sword and sorcery.

Written and designed by Joseph Goodman and Harley Stroh, the game is intended to be a re-imagining of how Gygax and Arnerson would have designed Dungeons & Dragons with the OGL, instead of being a retro-clone.

DCC RPG is scheduled to be released in November 2011 and pre-orders can be placed at Goodman Games.
